London's Monthly Interfaith Ceremony
Theme: Being With Loss

“Tis a fearful thing to love what death can touch”
12th century poem

The proper response to any loss is grief. In the West we live in the shadow of the heroic archetype; we put “a brave face” on and make private our grief, pushing our vulnerability into the shadow. But to love is to lose and our sorrows are co-mingled because loss binds us. Loss is something we have deeply in common.

Our ceremony on Loss will offer breathing space to simply be with our own and each other’s loss, not to mend, not to push, not to fix, simply to be present and breath around that which we could not hold on to. Sacred space and reflection in our circle will hold us tenderly and in care, giving witness to our sensitivity.

Led by Interfaith Ministers Rev Alison Trower, Rev Amy Firth & Rev Christopher Marcus this service will include music, prayer, reflection, silence, community connection & the beautiful Threshold Choir.

Suggested donation: £3 - £5
You are welcome to arrive from 6:45pm & we will be completed by 8:30pm with tea & treats.

About OneLight Gatherings:
We welcome you, whatever your degree of faith, to join our growing community of spiritual inquirers for events of fellowship, reflection and devotion. These inclusive evenings are skilfully held by a team of trained Interfaith ministers and support people exploring spirituality in an inter-denominational atmosphere. Our gatherings offer song, silence, prayerful circles, space for inner questioning, contemplation and healing; building a generous community spirit in a peaceful setting in central London.

We gather on the second Friday evening of each month and are grateful to use the beautiful main hall of Notting Hill's 'Essex Unitarian Church'. We gather in a seated circle around a central altar which often honours the shifting seasons and/or our monthly ceremony theme. Each ceremony runs for around an hour with spaciousness to socialise over tea & treats afterwards. We invoke and encourage a space of authentic expression where all is welcome - openly embracing vulnerability and honouring uncertainty.
